Step-by-step Microwave Oven Cleaning Process

Step-by-step Microwave Oven Cleaning Process

The microwave oven should always be clean. Spatter or spills attract microwave energy, which can cause burning of debris. This may reduce the efficiency of the microwave oven and cause bad smells. Do not try to make any adjustments or repairs to any part of the oven. Repairs must only be carried out by a qualified service technician.

When you are going to perform microwave oven cleaning procedure, make sure the oven is switched off or the plug is removed from the socket before cleaning.

  1. Cleaning the removable parts

Start with cleaning the removable parts (rotating glass dish and accessories). Clean them with a mild detergent after removing them from the compartment. The disc holder should be handled carefully.

Warning: Inside of the oven and the rotating glass dish become very hot, so do not touch them immediately after use.

  1. Cleaning the microwave oven interior

Always keep the inside of the oven clean. Wipe spilled liquids and splashes immediately. Dirt that remains on the oven walls, ribbon and door surface absorb microwave energy, reduce the efficiency of the oven and can damage the interior walls. Use a mild liquid detergent, warm water and a soft clean cloth to remove dirt.

Pay attention!

Never use abrasive cleaners, industrial cleaners or steel staples to clean any part of the oven.

For easier oven cleaning of hard-wearing stains, place a glass of water in the microwave oven for 2 or 3 minutes.

Never use a knife or other specimen to remove stains from the oven surfaces.

To remove odors from the inside of the oven let it boil a glass of water and two teaspoons of lemon juice for 5 minutes.

  1. Clean the oven exterior

Open the oven door when cleaning the control panel. This will prevent accidental switching on of the oven. You should clean the outside surfaces of the oven with a mild liquid detergent. Then pass clear water to remove any remaining detergent. Wipe with a soft cloth.

Glass cleaners or detergents for general use may be used. Never use abrasive cleaners, staples or hard chemicals to clean the outside surfaces of the oven. To prevent damage to the work parts, do not allow water to enter the ventilation openings.

You may use this tested trick to remove the greasy remains from your oven:

Take a well-moistened sponge and put a little detergent. Then place the sponge in the microwave oven and increase the temperature to the maximum value for 30 seconds. Open the door and clean the inside of the oven with the same sponge. This method not only makes the stove clean but also removes odors.

Be careful! The sponge will be very hot, so you must use protective gloves!

This secret you will certainly appreciate. Heat a cup of vinegar for about five minutes in a microwave oven. From the inside it will become crystal clear, and the smells of foods that you warm will disappear.

Do not forget to clean under the microwave and behind it. This kitchen appliance is light and you can move it easily. Also clean the microwave with a dry cloth, because some water may remain somewhere, and when you plug in the socket, it burns something.

After cleaning the microwave oven, it comes the time for the oven cleaning procedure. It definitely becomes a mess just in two days. No matter whether you will make a dish for the whole family or a small dish just for you, there is no way to get rid of a dirty oven. Remove the grilles inside, and everything around it; you can even disconnect it from the socket to avoid an accident. Here it is recommended to use a detergent for stubborn stains. Grasp the wire sponge and start cleaning thoroughly both inside and out. Do not forget to clean the hobs or if you have ceramic countertops, it is best to use a creamy cleanser.

You can maintain your oven clean with the help of baking soda mixture. You have to make a mixture of baking soda and water. For better effect you may add a few drops of lemon juice in the mixture. Apply the mixture with a sponge. It has to cover all the surfaces of the oven. You may use an old toothbrush to clean the corners of the oven. Leave the mixture to stay for some time. Some people recommend leaving it for about 15 minutes, while others say you have to leave it for the whole night. It’s up to you how much time you will leave it to act. The longer it stays the better. Then take a damp sponge or cloth and clean the oven.
